Blinding Mountains

Taking a seat opposite the treasury, he observed the crowd putting money into the collection box.  Many of the wealthy put in sizable amounts; but one poor widow came and put in two small copper coins worth about a cent.  He called his disciples over and told them: "I want you to observe that this poor widow contributed more than all the others who donated the treasury.  They gave from their surplus wealth, but she gave from her want, all that she had to live on."

Mark 12:41-44

How more selfish can one be?  desiring the best, the costliest, the rarest...ignoring the plea of the beggars, the cry of the innocents, the burden of the oppressed.  Is it satisfying to hoard, to live in overflowing opulence rather than free the soul from the shackle of greed? My Lord forgive me.  I do not want the comfort of money and material things, I only want to live in a graceful bliss, to be able to multiply what You have given me and then give back, to make You and the Mother smile.  Help me.
